October 4th, 2025

Today came with a mix of emotions I missed the morning leadership session of the TechRise program, and it hurt. But thankfully, I didn’t miss out on growth.
Instead, I was privileged to attend the Ashpot EdTech Indaba an insightful event tailored for educators seeking to embrace technology in the classroom. I showed up with one goal: to understand how tech can transform education, and I wasn't disappointed.
The event was graced by none other than Hon. David Kalu, the Abia State Commissioner for Science, Technology, and Innovation, who delivered the keynote address. He passionately urged teachers to immerse themselves in the tech industry, highlighting the need to build smart learning spaces for a smarter, more tech-driven future. His words resonated not just with the audience, but deeply with me.

Breakout Session: Power of Google Classroom
I participated in one of the breakout sessions where Google Classroom was introduced. It was eye-opening to see how such a tool could:
- Host multiple classes
- Manage assignments and quizzes
- Grade and track student performance
- Create a collaborative digital learning space
As someone on a tech learning journey, it was fulfilling to see how tech tools I’m learning about can be practically applied in education to create impact.
The event wrapped up on a high note, with fun activities and exciting rewards for participants a perfect blend of learning and celebration.
Despite missing the morning session at TechRise, I made sure to return for the evening leadership recap and guess what? It was a blessing! 🤩
During the Q&A session, one powerful concept stood out to me:
Traction is the ability to stay focused and stable on a task without deviation. Anything that pulls you away from that task is a distraction.
That hit home.
We learned practical ways to fight distraction, including rewarding ourselves for focus and denying ourselves something when we give in to distractions, a concept that links discipline to personal growth.
Today may not have gone exactly as planned, but I showed up where I could, and I grew. Both events reminded me that purpose has many paths and if you're intentional, you’ll always find your way back to it.
Sunday promises even more power-packed sessions, both spiritually and professionally. I'm ready. Watch this space.
